This weekend I spent a couple of hours at the hospital with my dad.
He had been bad for a week so I took him to the doctor (don’t worry, it showed out to not be anything serious), because he is one of those stubborn ones that never goes.
My dad asked me when I went to the hospital last time and I had to think, I don’t think I have been in over 20 years.
The hospital reminded me of why fitness is so important. Most people I saw were there because of metabolic health issues and some few because of bad luck of course.
Later the same day I went to a birthday party where I did not now anyone and we talked about Escapist (surprise!) and they wanted to know what the things is about all those crazy burpees and stuff we do.
I told them, it is all about moving people towards fitness and away from chronic disease and hospitals. Every squat gives me once more step in my 90s, every burpee allows me to get out of bed from the time I am 80 and every calorie on the assault bike gives me a stronger lung when I play with my grand kids in my 70s.
In short.
Keep doing your fitness, stay out of hospitals.
