The Insider’s
Berlin Guide
Coffee, cocktails, breakfast, a bike route through history — and a workout when you’re ready. Written by the people who live and train here.
Berlin doesn’t reveal itself to tourists. It reveals itself to people who slow down, walk the right streets, and end up somewhere they weren’t looking for.
We’re based at Savignyplatz in Charlottenburg — one of the quieter, more beautiful corners of the city. Over the years, we’ve had drop-in athletes from all over the world pass through our studio. They always ask the same question: where should I go? This is our answer.
These are the places we actually go. Some are five minutes from the studio. Some are worth the trip across the city. All of them are worth your time.
Morning Ritual
Coffee
Right on Savignyplatz — practically our front garden. The carrot cake is some of the best in the city. Great for working, sitting in the sun, or a slow morning before a session. The kind of neighbourhood spot that makes you want to live here.
A few minutes’ walk from Savignyplatz. Come for the flat white, stay for the salmon poke bowl at lunch. One of those places that nails both the coffee and the food — which is rarer than it should be. The Dubai cheesecake has a reputation of its own.
Also on Savignyplatz. Smaller, quieter, excellent for a focused morning. The huevos revueltos are worth ordering. If you want a coffee before training with us, this is the one.
Start the day right
Breakfast
The best pancakes in Berlin. Full stop. Open from 7am on weekdays which means you can eat well, train, and still make your morning calls. The eggs benedict come with fresh baked bread. Worth the queue on weekends.
Open until 3am. A West Berlin institution since the 1970s — cash only, slightly eccentric, completely unique. The food is surprisingly good and the atmosphere is something you won’t find anywhere else. Come late after a night out, or early before anyone else is up. Cash only. Don’t forget.
Evening
Bars Worth Finding
One of Berlin’s genuinely great cocktail bars — Gatsby vibes, vintage decor, and cocktails that justify every penny. The inner bar does personalized, made-to-order cocktails based on what you feel like rather than a menu. Make a reservation. Don’t show up and hope for the best.
10th floor of the 25hours Hotel Bikini. Overlooking the zoo — yes, you can watch the monkeys. David Bowie and Iggy Pop lived nearby during the late 70s and this building was part of their world. The view at sunset is worth the cocktail price. Arrive early to get a terrace seat.
Over 100 years old. A ballroom in Mitte that has survived everything Berlin has thrown at it. Come for dinner and stay for the dancing — or just for the atmosphere, which belongs to another era entirely. Book ahead for the restaurant.
Markets & Culture
Local Life
Sunday flea market on the site of the old Berlin Wall. Vintage clothing, vinyl, handmade jewellery, street food. Bring cash. Arrive before noon if you want the best finds. The karaoke amphitheatre on Sunday afternoons is a Berlin institution — worth seeing even if you don’t sing.
A 19th century market hall in Kreuzberg, now home to some of the city’s best food vendors. Thursday Street Food Thursday is the main event — truffle pasta, oysters, craft beer, food from everywhere. Goes late. Worth the trip across the city.
Summer Special
The Berlin Bike Route
Berlin is flat. This is the one thing every cyclist should know. The city is made for bikes — wide streets, dedicated lanes, and a landscape that lets you cover huge distances without realising it. In summer, this is the best way to see the city. Rent a bike near the studio and follow this route.
